GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.3

On this third Guardians Of The Galaxy movie we had to recreate a CG replica of the city of Seattle as a part of the Counter Earth. To achieve such a massive task we started with OSM data which gave us the city layout and some useful informations about the buildings.

In parallel we also made a big library of generic buildings with various type and size (from small individual house to huge high-rises). Every piece was made in multiple destruction stages as well, in order to create the corresponding look while the Guardians are escaping the exploding planet.
Using the provided data we calculated transform matrixes in Houdini for each building and we baked all the necessary information into a big point cloud. 


Then inside Clarisse we re-assembled and lookdeved everything. We also added trees, city props, cars, traffic...etc. and rendered multiples passes and AOVs.


Nuke was using to put together all the shot elements and tweak the final look.
